When powerful women unite, communities shift.
When organizations with aligned missions partner, movements grow.
That is exactly what happened when Yes Youth and Women Can (YYWC) partnered with the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) — a partnership rooted in a shared commitment to empower women, build sustainable leadership pipelines, and amplify voices across the African diaspora.
But this collaboration is more than logistics or co-branding. It is a strategic alliance of values, vision, and action.
The African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) is a global nonprofit creating platforms for women of African descent to lead, influence, and impact their societies. With chapters in multiple countries, AWLO works across sectors to advance:
Their annual conventions, training programs, and grassroots initiatives are designed to bridge the gender leadership gap, locally and globally.

YYWC’s mission — to support youth and women in leadership, entrepreneurship, and legacy-building — aligns perfectly with AWLO’s vision.
That’s why, when the opportunity came to co-host the AWLO Canada 2025 Convention, the decision was natural.
Together, the two organizations brought their strengths to the table:
And the result? A sold-out convention that featured 6 high-impact panels, 300+ attendees, and unforgettable moments of connection and transformation.
Our partnership with AWLO extended far beyond a one-day convention. Here’s what we’ve built together:
At the center of it all is a mutual belief:
When women rise, communities rise.
“Partnering with AWLO wasn’t just about hosting an event — it was about building legacy. Together, we’re laying the foundation for generational impact.”
— Don Mathias, Relations Manager, YYWC
“Our collaboration with YYWC in Canada has shown that the diaspora is ready — ready to lead, build, and empower.”
— Dr. Elisha Atai, Global President, AWLO
This partnership sets the stage for more co-creative work between YYWC and AWLO, including:
It also reinforces YYWC’s growing role as a hub for strategic partnerships, where nonprofits, entrepreneurs, creatives, and institutions can connect and grow together.
Are you a woman-led organization, funder, speaker, or volunteer who wants to make a difference?
